Ledges State Park near Boone Iowa is a heavily wooded park with semi private camping sites as well a large center area with a playground and campsites all around the edges.

There are primative sites without electricity and many sites with electricity.

Potable water is available and a dump station for waste.

The showers are as clean as any state park and kept pretty nice by park standards.

The Boone area has a lot to offer, a scenic railway wich takes passengers on a two hour train ride through the DesMoines river valley, and it is very close to Ames. Home of the Cyclones.

The train crosses the tallest tressle bridge in the world they say.

The train ride is beautiful when the leaves turn colors in the fall.

Another great place to visit near Ledges State Park is Center Grove Orchard. there is a carnival type atmosphere in the Fall. Allow at least a half a day here as there are many activities for the family.

A person can also enjoy real home made apple treats.

All in all Ledges State Park is a great place for a family camping outing.
