South Shore Campground

South Shore Campground Singing Bridge on the trails. View from Historic bridge.

The Oakland Mills campground sits right on the Skunk River. There are three campgrounds there. Two are right along the river banks and one is on top of a hill on the south side of the river.

The most popular is on the south shore right along the river. Some campers like to camp as close to the river as possible and fish while being right next to the camper or tent.

There are showers available and public restroom facilities. A playground with a river rock base which is small but nice. There is no sand to get drug into the tent. Unless it is from the river.

On top of the hill on the south shore there is a nature center with live animal and other displays of local wildlife.

On the North shore there is a small cafe called 'Buthche's River Rock Cafe' which has great food and the worlds greatest pies! Pies made by a local Grandma and Grandpa.

Mount Pleasant (about 4 milels away) is the Home of the Old Threshers reunion. IN late summer, during the reunion and this campground is packed. The south shore campground has about 30 or so spots with electricity and potable water available.

The nature center is awesome. It is even free!
Great displays of native species and some live fish too. Great place to camp and hike with the family.
